Linocut prints

All prints for sale on this page are original artwork created, developed and hand-printed by me. They are printed on cotton, archival, printmaking paper (usually Legion Somerset paper) using Cranfield Caligo oil-based inks. Because they are hand printed one can expect small variations from print to print. If you would like to choose a print from an edition send me a message via the CONTACT page and I will send you a link to a page showing all prints in the edition. I try to post photographs that best represent the colors of the prints but please know every electronic device may render the colors slightly differently.

Prints are carefully packaged and shipped inside a cardboard shipping tube via U.S. Postal Service. If you are interested in purchasing one or more of my prints, please contact me via the CONTACT page.

Mushroom trio prints are four-block, color linocut prints. This is the first time I’ve done multiple editions of an image. It allowed me to play with the colors which I enjoyed greatly. I printed three editions of six prints in different colors, beginning each with a primary color. My intent was to create prints with colors that “work” as groups of three. They are available for purchase as sets of three, all three prints being of the same number within the editions.

Thinking about Davis Mountains, 6″ x 8″ w x h image size, is a color reduction print in an edition of 8 prints

I’ve been wanting to do a Davis Mountains inspired print since visiting and drawing there September 2021. This isn’t the one I planned but I decided I should do a small version and work out some process concerns in preparation for a larger, more demanding print. This is the first time I’ve used opaque color ink on a print. It allowed me to work light to dark with transparent ink and then back to light with the opaque color. It was a good learning experience. It felt like walking in the dark for most of the time. I printed 7 layers of ink on this one.

Landing, 10″ x 8″ w x h image size, is a color reduction print in an edition of 9 prints

I don’t know why I like these 1950’s-ish spaceship images but I do. I wanted to emphasize the light from the rockets in this print. And I really like the yellow ink. It seems blatantly unapologetic.

Matches, 12″ x 9″ w x h image size, is a color reduction linocut print in an edition of 6 prints

I carried a cylindrical, brass matchbox that held about a dozen kitchen matches in my pocket throughout my college days. My dad told me it was like a matchbox every farmer he knew carried when he was a kid. My grandmother had a matchbox holder hanging on the kitchen wall near her wood-burning cookstove. Matches seem insignificant but they connect me to people in my past.

All copies of this print have sold. Thank you to all the owners of my “matches” print!

Moonlight Toad, 8″ x 6″ w x h image size, is a color reduction linocut print in an edition of 6 prints

I found a Gulf Coast Toad living in the bag of potting soil stashed under my plant potting bench. I did a drawing of it in my sketchbook. And then it became inspiration for this print.

Spaceship, 6″ x 5.75″ w x h image size, is a color reduction print in an edition of 10 prints

When I was in high school, my notebooks had little spaceships and other stuff drawn in the margins. The spaceships still show up in my sketchbooks from time to time.
